High School Tag

1. Did you date someone from your school? Yes, as everyone knows. I went to dances and dated different guys here and there, but I was basically married to one…..
2. What kind of car did you drive? The “Eagle”. It was an Eagle Summit, like from 1989.
3. Were you a party animal? Not really, I went to the parties, but they were mostly full of drunks and I was not a drunk. Besides, being on Tigerettes and Cheerleading you weren’t supposed to be there or you could get kicked off the team. Lucky I was involved in that to keep me at a distance.
4. Were you considered a flirt? Some would say so! I got my flirt on with some lucky ones!
5. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? I was in Choral Edition a few years and sang in the choir my senior year.
6. Were you a nerd? I don’t think so.
7. Were you on any varsity teams? Drill Team and Cheerleading
8. Did you get suspended/expelled? Oh boy, yes I did! It was a funny story, I’ll tell you about it sometime. If you went to school with me, you know the story. It was headline news!
9. Can you still sing the fight song? I’m sure, I just don’t know which song you are referring to. I still have them all in my head somewhere.
10. Who were your favorite teachers? Russell, Mason, Wilkey (cuz he loved me), and my best seminary teacher, Bro. Pack!
11. Where did you sit during lunch? Not in the lunch room, that’s for sure. I bet I could count on one hand the amount of times I stepped into the lunchroom. Not cool.
12. What was your school's full name? Ogden High School
13. School mascot? Tigers (Orange and Black)
14. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Yes. I loved high school. Most fun time of my life!!!
15. What do you remember most about graduation? Just that my friend Kris sang a solo because she is the bomb! I remember our Senior All Night party more. It was lots of fun. I remember me and Tommy Aardema danced our pants off to try and win the swing dance contest, which we didn’t. So I won the single dance contest and got like $50!
16. Where did you go senior skip day? Not sure there was such a thing…..?
17. Were you in any clubs? I might have signed up for a few, but I never went. I don’t know the point?
18. Have you gained some weight since then? Yeah, I am trying to double my weight.
19. Who was your prom date? I know Jim Wilson came with me to at least one. (He was the boyfriend who was already graduated- I had to beg because it wasn’t cool to go back to a HS dance.. He came, so he must have really loved me!) I think I went with Jeremy Dickamore my senior year, and I can’t even remember the other one.
20.Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? I’m old. We had it last year and it was lots of fun to see everyone!

So there you have it. All about me 11 years ago.
I tag Stacy, Alison, Lindsey and Katee

First Day of 1st Grade!

Here he is....our big boy on his first day of school today! He happens to have the best 1st grade teacher (so we hear), but not many of his friends from last year are in his class with him. I guess he gets to make some more friends! We are so proud of our sweet little Dallin, I know he will do great!!!

Dallin's New Room

Well, it has taken FOREVER but we finally finished Dallin's bedroom. We basically did an entire re-do of his walls. We got it done this past weekend just in time for school so he could get himself organized again. There are still a few small things to do in there, plus add some more decorations and a window treatment, but it is basically done. Doug did a fantastic job with the molding and the idea was all his. I have to hand it to him, it looks great! I, of course, did all the painting like I always do! We had to take off the old chair rail and baseboard, fix all the bad spots, completely re-texture, prime and paint then put up the new wood all around. Pain in the butt but it was worth it. Dallin says he has the nicest room in the house now. It is a good one!

PARTY IN IDAHO FALLS!

We went down to Utah last week to move Blair and his wife Michelle up to Idaho Falls with us. After he got settled in last week we went to this summer fair-type thing they have every year up here.

It was lots of fun. They had concerts, giveaways, booths, those blow up slides and mazes, an outdoor movie at dusk, and the best part of all was the BMX bike stunts. They had these guys doing some sweet tricks on bikes! It was a blast and the kids loved the bike stunts!
There was food and vendors, even horse carriage rides. And all of it was free! Good times. Here are a few pics of us. Too bad I didn't have my camera with us for the bikers, but oh well...

So that night when the concert was going, Drew was coming up with some serious dance moves. Here is a sample of the kind of stuff he was pulling, but it is nothing compared to what we actually saw. The best part was the look on his face like he was a serious rocker.
And yes, he DID pull a Michael Jackson!!!

Happy Birthday Dallin!

My big boy turned 7 this year!! I think I have cried every year on his birthday, I can't help it! He grows too fast and he is my first, my baby, the one who changed me and made me a mother. It makes me sad to see his life flying by like this!!! He needs to stay small for his Momma!!!

Here are a few pictures of Dallin on his birthday. He had to have his own slice of cake and light the candles himself. He is such a nut. He had to blow his candles out all crazy like that!
Here he is with the first bike he picked out. When we got it home, he didn't like the way it rode so we took it back and picked out another one. I hope he knows how much we love him! What a pain in the neck.
Here he is opening a fun package that came in the mail for him from Grandma and Grandpa Hoxer. They were so excited to open it. It was like Christmas! He also got a big whopping $100 from his Grandma K! Lucky little turd!

He got some money from grandparents and decided he had to have this remote-control airplane. Check out his pose, he is so full of it! Here is Doug and Dall playing outside with it. Boys and their toys!

So Drew was being so darn quiet upstairs and I figured there must be some silent trouble going on. I went to go check on him and walked around the corner only to find THIS! It scared the living crap out of me because I thought he had died or something. It isn't normal to have a child randomly passed out on the stairs.

So once I realized he was just sleeping, I had to snap a few shots. Isn't that just adorable with his backpack on and his hat that fell of his head? What a crack up.

He actually ended up waking up to get a drink and then I find him asleep AGAIN on the stairs like this. I guess once he picked his sleeping spot for the day, he had to resume his post?!?

Nevermind that nasty scab on his forehead....if there weren't a major wound on his head, his name wouldn't be Drew. FYI, he got it when he was standing on the U-Haul we rented for Blair's move and decided to EAT IT face first onto the cement. Not the first time.

Dallin's Tennis

I said before that we signed Dallin up for just about everything there is to do this summer. Here are a few pictures of him playing tennis! He loves it and he did real well for his age and being a beginner. I think it is something that he would want to continue to do, so we will put him in lessons again. Watch out, here comes the next Andre Agassi...

Breaking Dawn Review

Breaking Dawn (Twilight Series, Book 4)
Just got done reading Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. It was good, but it got a little more far-fetched than the others. I do like that Jacob isn't in AGONY any more! I didn't know how that was going to get any better and she provided a great solution in the book, although I still think Jacob and Bella somewhat belonged together. .
I think I liked Jacob better for her, or maybe he was just more MY type, but she was just hanging on to Edward! I love Jacob's grouchy attitude, personality and hilarious comments. The thing I liked the very most in the book was the chapter headings for the book on Jacob. Flippin' funny is what that was! But, all in all a great ending for the characters we all love....

Youth Conference at Salmon

Like I said before, I went to youth conference up in Salmon, Idaho. It was a blast! We had two cabins (one for boys, one for girls) that were RIGHT on the lake. They both had their own private docks that we could boat from and hang out on. It was so beautiful there. It was this small area of water surrounded almost entirely by mountainside with cabins around the whole lake. It was real intimate and felt like a small piece of heaven out there.
We didn't get to do much boating because the boat was on the fritz, but we did go on an all day rafting and kayaking trip down the river. I must say, I was lovin' the kayaks. We also stopped at this rock partway down the river to rock-jump which was so much fun!!! We have a talented group of people in our ward and we were flipping and diving and doing fun tricks off the raft and rock. My buddy Danika (who is also the YW Pres.) was the craziest one of all. You should have seen the stuff she was pulling! But if you know her you wouldn't expect less. She is the best at everything on the planet!!!
The Bishop was our river guide. He was the best! He made the whole trip what it was. Without Bishop and good 'ole Brother Woodhouse, we wouldn't have eaten. They did all the cooking for us! We felt like we should have done more (as the women), but they kindof had it all under control. Guilt.
We also had a Bishops night which is kindof a devotional, but this time Bishop Burger brought up a topic and then opened it up for question and answer session. I thought it was great! It was a good learning experience and we got questions answered that we never knew we had. I think we should have that opportunity more often, really. It was one of a kind!
I am grateful for the Gospel and for the opportunity to be involved in Young Womens and with the youth. I love my Heavenly Father and all the blessings he has provided for me. He truly knows what is best for us and supplies the things we are in need of if we are doing our best. I know this. I have seen it so many times in my life. How exciting to know the truth and have a divine plan for our lives with personal help as a bonus!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures. I didn't take many. I'll post more soon.....

How Can I Be?

I heard this song a while back and I love it! Great words, awesome message and I like the "island" sound with the ukulele's. The original song was a piano version that is much slower. It is very pretty, but I enjoy the upbeat version. Thought I would put it on the blog so everyone can hear it!

Tennis Match #3

This was a hard one....harder than the others. This girl had a real strong serve and it was hard to return. She beat me 6-4 on the first set. It took me some time to get warmed up to her, but I finally did (sort of). The second set I thought I was going to lose it, but I didn't. We got to 6-6 and had a tiebreaker which meant the first to 7 points wins. Luckily I won that 7-4. Then we went into the third set and that is when I really stepped it up and put my all into it. I wanted to WIN! Anyway, I kept my head in the game and she lost it. It was a quick set that I won 6-1. It was a butt whoopin' in the end! That was a close one though, I almost didn't get that third set! So anyway, I'm glad. I want to win as many as possible. I like competing. Besides that, the rest of my team isn't winning games and I need my options open to get on a good team that I can actually compete with. I had another offer to join another team this week. I have to say, they like me and they want my "skills" on their teams! Ha ha, kidding. Sort of. Don't think I'm being arrogant, I just like to joke around. To be honest, we are on the low end of the "skills" level anyway.
Wish me luck on the next!

STOLEN!

You all might already know this, but poor Dallin got his bike stolen like a week or so ago. I'm so mad about it! First of all, it was the best bike ever, second, I had a $20 off coupon when I bought it, third, I can't find one we like just as much!!! (They aren't selling them any more.)
Why does some trashy loser think that their kid is more important than mine? Why do they think that I should pay for their things? What the crap? It is pretty messed up to steal from a 6 year old!
So poor Dallin was going to have a big birthday party this year(his birthday is tomorrow), but instead, we are paying for a new bike. I hope his birthday is ok anyway. I feel so bad! Why does he have to have his birthday ruined because some piece of trash decided they needed his bike more than him?
Another thing....all his friends have been riding around the neighborhood on bikes and I have to see Dall running (red-faced) behind them trying to keep up. It really sucks, you know?! Life isn't fair, I know, but does Dallin have to figure it out so soon?
Well, I've posted a picture of the abducted bike in rememberance. Let's all take a moment of silence......

Tennis Match #2

I played a 3 hour match last night and won after 3 sets. This lady I played was absolutely obnoxious to play with which made me want to kick her "A" even more!!! I'd go into details but I'll just get myself all upset again. She was Ms.Bossy pants on top of being completely annoying in every sense possible (I also thought she was cheating). If you know me, I am pretty laid back and people don't normally bother me so bad.....especially someone I have known for less than five minutes. It's rare to have someone annoy the crap out of me so fast! Anyway, I'm pleased to say that I DID end up kicking the crap out of her in the end. She had me frazzled in the beginning because I was so irritated with everything she did, but I pulled out of it and resolved to beat the poop out of her. So the score ended up at 5-7 (her), 6-3 (me), 6-1 (me). Ha ha! Don't mess! The funny part is, she brought a little fan club with her to watch her play, and by the end they were cheering for ME! I was quite entertaining. The more they cheered, the better the show I put on. That ended up irritating her. By the end, she was so p.o.'d that she didn't even want to shake on it!!! REEE HA!

Youth Conference

Well, I'm headed off to our ward Youth Conference tomorrow morning! WOO WOO! I have to say, I'm having more fun being a leader now than back when I was actually in Young Womens. We are going up to Salmon Lake for 3 days to a cabin that sits right on the lake. We can hike, fish, swim, play volleyball, kayak, go boating and best of all....our Bishop was a whitewater tour guide back in the day and will be taking us for an all-day rafting trip down the river on Tuesday! Oh yeah, baby. I am so flippin' excited! I just keep doing all these fun things without Doug is the only problem. I wish he were able to take off work and go with me. He'd be going if he didn't have some massive jobs to bid that are due in the next couple of days. So, if I end up ever taking any pictures, I'll post them. I still have to post some pics of girls camp.....man, I am behind!

Tennis

So I have been playing tennis this summer. I am on the USTA tennis league and it has been a blast! I haven't played a sport for years and it is about time! I'm meeting lots of people and improving my game too. I forgot how much I really like tennis. I played on the JV team in high school my freshman year, but stopped playing once I made Tigerettes. I was never REAL good at it, but I'm finding out now that I'm not half bad!! Some of the girls I have been playing are pretty crappy. But I do love it when I get to play someone who is my same skill level or better. It makes for a great game! More fun and more challenging. I am a competetor for sure. This new league called Twilight just started again this week and I won my first match 6-4, 6-4 both sets. It was a good game with a good opponent, so I was glad I beat someone who was good. Anyway, I have posted this HOT picture of me here........yeah right! I wish I looked like that! I wear capri pants and a t-shirt. I can't show that much skin! EEEEWWWWW....
